Whether you like it or not, you are involved in politics. State and Federal legislators make decisions every day that could potentially affect the way credit unions do business. Other industries, with interests very different from credit unions, actively lobby, campaign, and contribute to candidates favorable to their cause. For this reason, the credit union movement in Georgia needs to do everything it can to elect and support candidates for office that share the credit union vision in making sure credit unions remain strong and vital. This is done through Political Action Committees (PACs), and United 1st FCU is proud to be a leader with this! We participate through Deduct-A-Buck, a program where contributions are transferred at the beginning of July each year. By pooling our resources, credit unions are able to maximize the collective impact of their donations in the support of those who promote favorable legislation to enhance our industry. For details on how you can be involved, please see your nearest United 1st Service Center or email us at email@example.com.
Disclaimer for either: Georgia CUPAC/CULAC are the state and federal political action committees (PACs) for credit unions. Contributions to Georgia CUPAC/CULAC are not tax deductible for federal income purposes and are distributed in a 60/40 split between the two PACs. Contributions are strictly voluntary and you have the right to refuse to contribute without reprisal.
